What We Believe
Here at Central Christian we affirm that Jesus is the Christ, Son of the living God. Outside of that there is no requirement that members ascribe to a particular doctrine or theology. We believe that each Christian is called to their own journey of faith.
We simply observe two New Testament ordinances: communion and baptism. We consider ourselves to be a people of the table. No matter our disagreements or differences we are united as one around the table of Christ. We believe strongly that everyone is always welcome at the table of Jesus Christ and this table fellowship has never been missed in our more than 200 year history. |
our Denominations
Central Christian Church is a member of two denominational bodies. We were founded as a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). We are one of the oldest Disciples congregations in the country and are presently the only active Disciples congregation in the state of Connecticut. As Disciples we strive to be a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. As a part of the one body of Christ, we welcome all to the Lord's table as God has welcomed us. The second denominational body we belong to is the American Baptist Churches USA. American Baptist Churches are missional congregations that nurture devoted disciples of Jesus Christ who live their lives in mission and ministry for the healing of the world through the love of God.
